No Sudden Moves is also a bop. Favorite track: Still Waters Run Deep.

Melvin Ah Ching I've heard this album in bits and pieces through the years and decided I need to get the whole thing. "Tokay" is the highlight of the album. Favorite track: Tokay.

Lute FP I have always respected Dengue Fever for their faithful homage to Cambodia’s classic psychedelic pop, but I felt like their songs could be hit or miss, and attributed it to my personal westernized tastes struggling with the band’s desire to emulate the source material. The Deepest Lake finds Dengue Fever expanding their trademark psych/surf/Cambodian pop sound with African percussion, vocals that would make Exene and John Doe proud, sweeping melodies and extended psychedelic jams of songs that often time out after five or six minutes. The band made a conscious decision to head into the studio looking to expand their sound while also following their instincts to explore jams that came out of demos recorded in their home studio where the album was produced entirely by the band themselves. The result is sound that showcases their musically adventurous side while still remaining faithful to the bands otherworldly sound.

DENGUE FEVER Los Angeles, California

Even when you consider the cultural cross-pollination that goes on in large metropolitan areas, L.A.'s Dengue Fever had perhaps the strangest genesis of any band in recent memory.
